Miniature cannon Civil War 1861r Denix - 422
A metal replica of a Civil War-era field gun.
The Civil War, or Civil War, took place between 1861 and 1865 in the United States of America, between the constituent states of the United States, known as the Union or 'North', and the Confederate States of America, known as the Confederacy or 'South', which seceded from the Union. It lasted over four years until May 1865, when the last Confederate troops surrendered. The war resulted in the deaths of 600,000 people and the destruction of $5 billion worth of property. Guns of all kinds used in this war contributed significantly to these huge numbers.
The replica on display shows a typical US-made field gun used by both sides of the conflict. A 12-pounder cannon, 118.7mm calibre, smoothbore, front-loading, range 1828m. The small relative barrel, the lavalier providing high mobility of the gun, made this cannon a lethal weapon. The cannon was also known as the Napoleonic cannon. The model is characterised by its all-metal solid construction. Attention is drawn to the large number of interesting immovable details: the coil of tow rope, the loading fixture, the intricately made wheels. The replica is part of a larger series of miniatures of the most famous cannons, produced by the Spanish company Denix.
Dimensions:
- Barrel length: 9.5cm
- Overall length: 18.5cm
- Height of the wheel: 7cm
- Weight: 0.590kg
The effectiveness of these cannons can be seen by watching the brilliantly acted battle scenes in the film "The Patriot" with Mel Gibson or in the popular TV series "North-South". An excellent prop for wargame fans and collectors.
The perfect gift for lovers of US history!
The replica faithfully reproduces the original, however it does not have any functional features or the possibility to be converted into a firearm (within the meaning of the Act on Weapons and Ammunition of 21 May 1999 - Journal of Laws of 2012, item 576, as amended).
