The possibility of firing a so-called dry shot. The Colt Navy has a rotating barrel with six cartridge chambers. The barrel can be rotated directly - by pulling the cock back to the half cocked position or it is rotated automatically by the mechanism when the cock is tightened to the full position. The Colt also has a movable - sliding buttstock (powder and bullet buttstock), as can be nicely seen in the photos.
