The National Military Union was one of the largest post-war independence organizations operating in the so-called second conspiracy. In the years 1945–1947, the NZW guerrilla troops conducted numerous armed actions against the communist security forces (KBW, UB, MO, ORMO) as well as the NKVD, while to a lesser extent against the regular LWP units.
The lower arm of the cross has dates: 1944, 1956, and the others - initials NZW
