Exclusive Cycladic metal chess pieces; 28x28cm, S22B Cycladic culture is a Bronze Age culture that occurred in the third and second millennia BC mainly on the islands of the Cyclades archipelago. Its main centers were: Syros (now Siros), Naxos and Milos. The early development of the art of this culture, until around 1900 BC, is associated with the finds of small (on average 0.2-0.5 m high) figurines, most often made of marble, now called Cycladic idols. Our chess pieces are inspired by such figures. Small figures were placed in the graves, so they could be related to funeral rites. It is believed that larger figures were placed in places of worship. It is also believed that at least some of the figurines created were representations of deities. The chess pieces and the chessboard were made with care to maintain the highest quality. Weight of the set: 3.2 kg; King height 5.4 cm. Figures made of zinc alloy. Colors: brown / blue Checkerboard 28x28cm, brass. Colors: blue - yellow; hand-painted Top class hand finish.
